During my recent honeymoon in southern Italy (after my incredibly romantic wedding), I had so many fantastic experiences! Interestingly enough, as a Personal Stylist, shopping was a low priority for me this time around. We vacationed for two weeks and reserved our shopping time for the last two to three days. Usually, when I shop for myself (and always when I shop for my clients), I shop with intent, so there was no crazy shopping spree for me in Italy, LOL.
I really wasn’t craving any wardrobe garments from Italy, but what I really wanted to get my hands on were some fantastic leather goods. After all, that is what Italy is globally known for! I had the pleasure of visiting small “Mom & Pop” Italian artisans that had genuine leather goods including handbags, wallets, jackets, and shoes. I love my handbags, so that was definitely a target for me.
Quality is very important to me, so I pretty much quizzed the artisans on where the handbags were manufactured, what type of leather shop they had, how many workers, and so on. I was pleasantly surprised to find that a lot of them were sourced locally (near Naples) or in Florence, also from other “Mom & Pop” artisans. That made me feel great because everything was handmade and also supported the local economy. I ended up buying eleven bags, three of which were gifts for family and friends. And let me tell you, these bags are AMAZING!
First of all, the rich leather fragrance is to die for. I’ve been using my pale pink chevron handbag pretty much all summer as my everyday bag, and the scent of leather is still there (you'll see this in the video below). Overall, the handbags are stitched beautifully and the leather is so soft and supple (quite a few of these handbags are made from calf leather, so that's why).
So check out the latest additions to my handbag collection, and also learn about what it means when you a label that reads “Made in Italy”!

Oh, and in the video, I totally forgot to include this really pretty top handle Italian leather handbag with metallic python print styling. Isn't it gorgeous? A bag like this is perfect for business meetings where you want to show a bit of spunk! ?This is certainly one of my faves!
