Dressing the Woman You’ve Become This International Women’s Month

There is something about International Women’s Month that always invites reflection.

Not just on the women who inspired us, raised us, challenged us, or walked ahead of us, but on ourselves, too. On the woman we are today. The one we’ve fought to become. The one who has learned, stretched, healed, adapted, and kept going, even when life asked a great deal of her.

And if I’m being honest, I think style belongs in that conversation more than we often give it credit for.

Because getting dressed is never just about clothes.

It is about identity. It is about presence. It is about how we choose to show up in our lives, at work, in our relationships, in seasons of transition, in moments when we are rebuilding, and in moments when we are finally ready to be seen.

International Women’s Month always reminds me that style can be a way of honoring that journey.

Not performative. Not superficial. Not about chasing every trend or trying to dress like someone else. But about asking a much more meaningful question: Does the way I show up on the outside reflect the woman I know myself to be on the inside?

For so many women, the answer is not always yes right away.

Life changes us. Careers evolve. Bodies change. Priorities shift. Motherhood, marriage, divorce, travel, promotions, loss, reinvention, all of it leaves a mark. And somewhere along the way, many women find themselves standing in front of a closet that no longer feels like home.

I see this all the time.

A woman can be accomplished, thoughtful, stylish, and deeply capable, and still feel disconnected from her wardrobe. Not because she lacks taste, but because she has changed, and her clothing simply has not caught up yet.

That disconnect is more emotional than people realize.

When your wardrobe no longer reflects who you are, getting dressed can feel frustrating, noisy, and strangely personal. But when your style begins to align with your life again, something shifts. You feel clearer. More grounded. More like yourself.

That is why I believe personal style is not about becoming someone new.

It is about returning to yourself.

It is about recognizing the woman you are now and dressing her with intention, respect, and joy.

And in the spirit of International Women’s Month, I wanted to do exactly that for you.

I’ve curated a few edits for you this month, thoughtful outfit combinations designed around different moments in a woman’s life, mood, and energy. They are meant to feel elevated, wearable, and expressive, while still giving you that sense of ease and confidence that I think every woman has earned.

Girls’ Night Style

Sleek, confident, a little dramatic.

This edit centers around the Alice + Olivia Alexander Vegan Ankle Pant, layered with an Alice + Olivia tailored blazer thrown over the shoulders for structure and edge, and finished with the Elizabeth Hooper Dome Dangle Earrings for a sculptural statement.

This one feels powerful and feminine at the same time. The open-back dress brings the drama, the blazer keeps it polished, and the jewelry makes it feel fashion-forward instead of expected. It is the sort of look that walks into the room with presence, the kind that does not need to shout to be noticed.

Coffee Date with the Girls Edit

Polished daytime chic with an easy, expensive feel.

For this one, I paired the Lafayette 148 Organic Cotton Poplin Convertible Wrap Blouse with the Lafayette 148 Denim Mercer Kick Flare Jean, then added the Elizabeth Hooper Small Ripple Hoops in Gold and, if you want a little extra finish, the Elizabeth Hooper Small Burnish Bangle in Vermeil.

This outfit gives that irresistible “I just threw this on” feeling, but in the best possible way. The wrap blouse adds shape and sophistication, the straight jean keeps it relaxed, and the gold jewelry gives it that polished Roxanne-style finish. It feels effortless, but still intentional, which, to me, is always the sweet spot.

For the Empowered Woman

Modern power dressing, clean lines, no fuss.

This edit features the Scanlan Theodore Crepe Knit Tailored Blazer in Black, the Scanlan Theodore Crepe Knit Milano Sleeveless Top in Cream, and the Scanlan Theodore Tailored Trouser in Black, finished with the Elizabeth Hooper Pinch Cuff in Gold.

This is the strongest of the three. Sharp blazer, clean trouser line, soft contrast at the neckline, then one bold cuff to finish it. It reads capable, elevated, and unmistakably intentional. It is modern power dressing without feeling overworked, the kind of outfit that lets you lead the room while still feeling entirely like yourself.

What I love about these edits is that they are not about dressing for someone else’s idea of womanhood. They are about celebrating the many ways a woman can show up in her own life. Playful, polished, powerful, relaxed, bold, soft, structured, evolving, and MODERN.

Because that is the truth of it, isn’t it?

There is no one way to be a woman.
And there is certainly no one way to dress like one.

This month, I have been thinking about how often women are taught to delay themselves.

We wait until we lose the weight.
Until work slows down.
Until the kids are older.
Until the move is over.
Until the next chapter begins.

But style can meet you here, in the middle of your real life. In the life that is already happening.

You do not need a perfect occasion to dress with care (this is a big one!).
You do not need permission to invest in yourself.
You do not need to earn beauty, polish, confidence, or presence.

You are allowed to want to feel wonderful now.

And I think that matters.

Because when a woman feels at ease in what she wears, she moves differently. She speaks differently. She trusts herself more. She walks into the room a little more fully. That is not vanity. That is alignment.

For me, styling has always been about more than beautiful clothing. It is about helping women see themselves clearly, sometimes for the first time in a long time. It is about editing away the noise, refining what works, and creating a wardrobe that supports not just how a woman looks, but how she lives.

The goal is never costume.
The goal is connection.

This International Women’s Month, I hope you celebrate the women around you, of course. But I also hope you celebrate yourself in quieter ways.

By noticing how far you have come.
By acknowledging the strength it took to get here.
By letting your wardrobe support the life you are building.
By choosing pieces that make you feel like the most honest version of yourself.

And perhaps, by slipping into one of these curated edits and seeing how it feels to be reflected back to yourself a little more clearly.

Style may seem like a small thing in the grand scheme of womanhood, but I do not think it is.

Sometimes, it is one of the most immediate ways we remind ourselves:

I’m here.
I matter.
I know who I am.
And I’m allowed to show up like it.

That, to me, is worth celebrating, this month and always.
