Roxanne’s Top Tips on Scoring the Best Cyber Monday Deals

Guess what??  It’s Cyber Monday!!!!!  AKA the “made up” shopping holiday after the other “made up” shopping holiday that is Black Friday.  😉  Regardless of the day, these are some of the best times to shop during the year!  Today is all about snatching up the hottest Cyber Monday deals on all types of merchandise, especially fashion!  I want to help you style a wardrobe you’ll love at some great prices!

Quick tips to help you score the best Cyber Monday Deals!

Set a budget – To keep things in check and in control, please decide on a budget that you want to spend. You don't want to buy everything in sight just because it’s on sale.  Set a firm budget and stick to it!

Develop a shopping list – Think about buying items that would be a good complement to your current wardrobe or even something a bit daring if you’re using this as an opportunity to give some new looks a try! The point is try not to shop completely blind because this will help you stay within your budget.  Disclaimer time: if you see a fantastic deal for something that’s not on your shopping list, but you must have it and you’ll actually wear it, go for it.  Remember you are shopping for YOU!

Check your email constantly! – If you’re on email lists for your favorite stores, today your inbox will be jam-packed with hot sales for you to take advantage of. I challenge you to read each of them and take a browse around – you might find great deals!  But the main reason that I want to you to stay on top of your email today is because some stores offer flash sales that are only good for a few hours.  So you don’t want to miss the boat here.  Keep a close eye on that email!

Google is your friend – In fact, today Google is your BEST friend! If you see that Rebecca Minkoff blouse on sale at your favorite department store, before adding it to your shopping cart & checking out, run a quick Google search for the same item (brand name, style name, etc.) and see what pops up!  It’s a great way to compare pricing and see if anyone is offering a better Cyber Monday deal.  Very Important Tip:  Don’t just look at the sales price when comparing the same item across different stores.  You need to also check out the shipping charges!  For example, if Store A is selling that fabulous top for $120 plus an $8.95 shipping fee, but Store B is selling it for $125 with free shipping, it’s easy to see which one’s the better buy.  So just go a tiny step beyond to see the full picture when it comes to final pricing.

Read reviews! – When ordering online, you should always try to read reviews of the item you’re considering, if available. Many a times online, I’ve spotted the cutest items that I just knew would work with my style, only to read reviews and find that the fabric is too rough, or the stitching wasn’t the best, etc.  So read the reviews to see how people have rated the item.  You can also get valuable tips on sizing (i.e. ordering a size down because it runs large, etc.).  Also, return the favor and leave a review once you’ve sampled the item because your feedback may help another shopper!

If in doubt, order two – If you’re not sure about sizing of a particular item, try to leverage the store or brand’s sizing chart to help you out. If there isn’t one available, order what you think your size is plus a size up or down (using your best judgment).  If the store has a generous return policy (that’s my next tip), you can’t go wrong with ordering duplicate items and then returning the one that doesn’t work for you.  Easy peasy!

Be sure to check return policies – While most online shops offer fair return policies, you need to be sure about your specific For example, I’ve seen stores that have 30-day return policies, but there are certain items that have restrictions such as final sales with no return or exchange options or maybe you can return only for a store credit.  READ the return policies to be sure!

Track it! – Keep a simple spreadsheet of what you bought and where it’s coming from. This is helpful for you to keep track of what you’ve ordered and what you should expect to be delivered.  If you’re an Amazon junkie like I am, I’m receiving packages from them very frequently, and honestly, sometimes I don’t even remember what I ordered until I open my surprise box that was delivered, LOL.  As a Personal Stylist, however, when it comes to clothes online, I’m all over my tracking and delivery.  I’ve had packages accidentally delivered to wrong addresses, or simply not arrive.  It’s not often, but it can happen from time to time.  So you if you’re doing lots of Cyber Monday shopping today, please track what you’ve purchased so you know that you receive everything you’ve spent your hard-earned money on.

Okay, so there you have it.  I hope these tips will help you get through the shopping day today!
