Today I visited the beautiful Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades for the first time and it was absolutely lovely! The villa is a museum that features antiquities from ancient Greece & Rome and is spread out over gorgeous grounds. The weather was perfect which made for great outdoor views of the ocean on one side of the villa and the Santa Monica mountains on the other side. The villa has many sculptures, busts, and vases on display that tell stories of everyday life in the ancient era but it also highlights familiar tales from Greek & Roman mythology. This was a treat for me as I've always been a fan of classical Panhellenic mythology – I was certainly getting my geek-on! 😉
Anyhow, during my visit, the villa had a special surprise in store for me… There was an exhibition on jewelry dating back as early as 525 B.C.! Though I'm sure many pieces were restored due to their OLD age, they were simply beautiful to look at. To think that people who had a lot less available to them in terms of tools and technology were able to handcraft these unique pieces is just amazing. I was so thrilled to see this jewelry and couldn't wait to share it with you. As you'll see when you take a look at the pics below, some of these ladies were definitely stylin' & profilin' with their jewelry & accessories for sure! From beaded necklaces to chokers, snake bracelets, and cameo rings, they rocked it ALL – and this was B.C.! Which of these pieces would YOU rock? I know I could handle several myself! Enjoy!
